Presentation Title: Leveraging Gamification with the Level Up Plugin at KBS for Enhanced Student Insights and Early Intervention
Presentation summary:
In this session, Cameron will share his lessons on implementing key elements of gamification in a user friendly way, and uncover what valuable student insights his team has discovered in the process.
The team at KBS have integrated the Level Up plugin into their Moodle platform to capitalise on its gamification capabilities. This plugin tool enables you to implement key elements of gamification, such as points, badges, and leaderboards (PBLs), in a user-friendly way. The ability to create a gamified structure once, then easily backup and restore it across multiple courses, has streamlined KBS setup and maintenance processes.
After analysing data from two trimesters of implementation, the team at KBS has discovered that the plugin provides valuable insights into student progress, allowing to predict final grades early in the trimester. These insights have enabled academic teams to identify "at-risk" students more efficiently, resulting in earlier intervention and more effective support, all with minimal effort compared to previous methods.
